This seo advice is the second part continuation of my On Page SEO Tips that all website owners interested in Search Engine Optimization need to know.

So you’ve taken care of the most important on page SEO techniques and think you’re well on your way to easy street, right? Well not so fast, because in order to have your website fully tuned to attract high rankings from Google & Yahoo there’s a few other important techniques that need to be thought about before moving onto One Way Link Building.

Here are the next 5 SEO Tips.

SEO Tips & Advice

Use keywords in h2, h3, & h4 tags. This is the same tehnique as utilizing the h1 tags, however these tags generally highlight pieces of content of lesser importance. Its a good practice to use these tags in your keyword strategy.

Use keywords in image titles and alt tags. Don’t listen to those SEOs who say that this is unimportant because in my experience I’ve ranked very high for terms that can only be found in my alt tags, to my surprise. I will never ignore that impact.

Bold your keywords. When you use bold text on your webpage, it usually means you want that bolded item to jump out to your reader. Google takes note of this, so throw your keywords, like San Diego SEO, in bold & strong tags. See, I bet that just jumped out at you

Use keywords in your meta description tag. This is mainly important for user display purposes, as the meta description is the snippet that surfers will read on the search engines, however the search engines do also pull keywords from this description.

Use keywords in your meta keywords tag. Back in the day, this used to be the cat’s pajamas for search engines like Yahoo however when Google entered into the search engine arena this technique was almost completely put to rest. Keyword being ‘almost’. Yahoo may still take this into consideration so taking the few seconds to add keywords into your meta keywords tag can’t be that painful, can it?

If you follow these SEO Tips (see there’s the bold again), you can officially sleep well knowing that your webpage is now fully prepared for your Search Engine Optimization strategy. Of course, this is only a small percentage of the work you need to do in order to simply leave your competition in the dust. Search Engine Optimziation is a difficult and time consuming operation, and of course if your keyword research is inaccurate or unrealistic, all of this on page optimization will be slightly more than worthless.

If you have read my SEO tips and feel a bit overwhelmed, you can always hire me to do your on page SEO and all other facets of search engine optimization. Our San Diego SEO Jedi will do a full SEO Audit of your website and all of the other dirty work for you! Let’s be honest, that’s why I have you reading this article in the first place.

Before you begin planning a link building strategy, every website owner interested in improving their search engine rank needs to first build the infrastructure from which all future SEO campaigns will be dependent upon.

This infrastructure is called on page SEO which is the act of optimizing various source code elements, text, and other content items throughout each webpage on your site in such a manner that is familiar and appealing to the major search engines; Google, Yahoo, MSN and more. This is a very important step within your search engine optimization plan that can not go ignored.

Lets take a quick look at the top 5 on site SEO techniques that you need to pay attention to, in order of importance.

SEO Tips & Advice

Use keywords in the title tag of the HTML header. Plain and simple this is the single most important on page optimization technique, ignore are your own peril! Not only does Google hold this in very high regard, but keywords within the title tag will be highlighted for surfers within a Google search matching those words.

Use keywords in text within your website’s body. If you don’t use keywords within your site’s body, the content of your site, Google will not find your site relevant. If you’re targeting particular keywords Google and your surfer needs to be able to find them throughout.

Use keywords in H1 tags. Despite being an older technique, major search engines still take note of keywords within H1 tags. These tags are generally used for topic headers and important sections of your website so make sure your keywords can be found in these headers.

Use keywords in your domain name. This is pretty straight forward. If you are selling ‘fish bait’ in San Diego, an example of a good domain name would be ‘www.sandiegofishbait.com’.

Use keywords in webpage url link. If you don’t own the website listed above in my last example and are still selling fish bait in San Diego, a good url could be: www.domainname.com/san-diego-fish-bait.html

Utilizing this SEO advice will definitely help you rank higher within the major search engines; but sadly this will most likely not be enough for you to break through over your competitors, this is only the beginning of a great journey. There are many more techniques that can and should be employed on your website that will help you rank higher for important keywords so be sure to read my follow up article, highlighting the next 5 important SEO Tips.
